How I Make Money Writing Microbooks
Hey everyone!
Sitting here with my morning coffee, I’m reminded of 2 years ago when I first started exploring MICROBOOKS.
Back then, I was quite skeptical about this format, even thinking “who has time to read these tiny books?” 😅
I used to share a lot of content on Facebook groups, and looking back, those were actually my first microbooks.
To be honest,
I didn’t even know what to call them back then haha.
As I started researching similar books, I was really impressed by their productivity impact.
I learned more applicable things from them than from the thick books I used to read.
That’s when I began diving deeper into this format.
Some call them mini books, some atomic books, and others call them “bite-sized books”.
The name doesn’t matter — what matters is that they’re concise, focused, and get straight to the point.
Why Are Microbooks Hot Right Now?
Last week, I was chatting with a friend who’s a content creator.
She was complaining about readers’ short attention spans and how no one reads long blog posts anymore.
I laughed and said,
“That’s exactly why microbooks exist!”
In today’s era of short-form content, readers don’t have the patience for 300–400 page books anymore.
They want information that’s quick, digestible, and immediately actionable.
Income From Microbooks: Is It Worth It?
My first month publishing on Amazon, I sold… 3 copies 😂
But here’s the interesting part: after 6 months, once I understood SEO and marketing better, I changed my strategy.
Instead of just selling books, I used them as marketing tools, sharing valuable information along with my services.
That’s when things started to change — sales began growing steadily each month.
Currently, with over 5 microbooks, I’m generating passive income of about $700–800/month.
Not huge numbers, but it’s completely automated income that requires minimal maintenance.
Content Quality Is #1
Here’s something I learned the hard way:
Don’t write about things you don’t truly understand.
Initially, I thought thorough research would be enough, but it’s not.
My best-selling microbook is about a topic I have 7 years of experience in. Because I deeply understand the subject, I wrote naturally and provided insights readers couldn’t easily find elsewhere.
PRO TIP From Real Experience
I remember spending 2 months writing a digital marketing book that got terrible feedback when published.
I wish I’d known this tip then: Write a 300-word sample chapter and test it on Medium first.
Now, before starting any microbook, I always do this testing phase.
It saves so much time and effort.
Challenges To Keep In Mind
Let’s be real — microbooks aren’t a “get rich quick” scheme.
I’ve stayed up until 2 AM finishing books and constantly updated content based on reader feedback.
But I think it’s a worthwhile journey.
Not just financially, but for the knowledge and network you build along the way.
What do you think about this trend?
