Does research on niche markets on Etsy sell well?

A Super Simple Way

Realizing that there are still questions about whether the market is good or not, can you participate in that market? The answer is: You should find out whether that market has large demand/volume or not.

Typically, I evaluate whether a niche market (understood as a keyword/niche) sells well based on the number of orders from a particular store. Here are 2 evaluation criteria:

  • The stores in the niche market I am currently and about to research have a high daily volume of units sold
  • Stores have a relatively small number of reviews according to my criteria

Ignore the revenue they earn from that listing, focus on finding out how many they sold. I use the structure “hey” added before the Etsy domain.

Example: heyetsy.com/shop/xxx

Suppose I need to evaluate products with reviews <500 in a store. (This is the range where I can start with a new store that I can compete with)

If more than 80% of the top stores in that niche fall outside my criteria, I will ignore it.

I know that entering that market will be very difficult to rank.

When I see about 10–20 shops within the sold range that I find acceptable, I begin to enter the market.

Only look at the TOP stores in the niche I am researching.

Safe Market (Figure 1): When I see this type of chart appearing frequently, I know that the market volume is relatively stable. I have a high chance in the market, but my expectations will lie at the average figure along the red line that I draw.

Volatile market (Figure 2): When I see a chart pattern where the average line I previously drew suddenly grows, I know that there is a high opportunity in this market. My expectation increases from 2x to 3x the amount sold because the amount sold increases 2 to 3 times.

If I seize the opportunity, I am likely to easily achieve sales.

Volatile market decline (Figure 3): When I see the trend of most stores in the niche selling decreasing, I will consider it carefully before participating, because it’s certain that joining in I won’t achieve the expected points I desire.

Therefore, before entering a niche market (niche product, niche keyword), I usually analyze the sales potential of that niche before participating.

This ensures that I will have a better chance of achieving a higher sold outcome.
